Happy Make-It-Happen Monday!

Message for today:

I am so pleased to share that I held a virtual FUELLED Superfood Smoothie Hand-On Masterclass for a group of Middle School Kids in Bermuda on Saturday evening!
They started out looking not-too-sure about the whole thing, but then they got really into it!!

They were a great group and GUESS WHAT??!!

Their favourite smoothie of the 4 we made was…….

💚💚💚💚 The GREEN ONE!!! 💚💚💚💚

Yes! These kids loved the green on the most!!
More than my famous Just Like Ice Cream Smoothie! 🍦
Crazy! (Honestly, even I was a bit surprised).

They were asking the lovely facilitator, Shawnette, when they’ll get the recipe! I was SO PSYCHED!

I knew I could make spinach delicious for EVERYONE!!

If they can do it and LOVE it – So Can YOU!

This is the recipe:
FUELLED Iron Monkey (a classic)
🌄Greens Are Gold🌄
~ Drink your greens first thing! ~
Makes a “blender-ful.”
Impressive nutrient profile!!
INGREDIENTS
🍌🍌🍌3 Fresh or frozen bananas
🍊1 whole pink grapefruit or organge (or half), peeled but leave the whitish stuff on it 🍊
🍈3-4 dried prunes
🥬🥬 2 very large handfuls of organic spinach (but kale works well too!), equal to about 1-3 cups of organic spinach (Pro tip – you can freeze spinach in its container after you buy it, or in Ziplock bags! It will last longer and not die in the fridge)
🍍 ¼ – ½ cup of pineapple juice (Dole is a good brand, non-GMO and not from concentrate), or pink grapefruit juice
💧 Water to the point of being about 2/3 as high as the other ingredients in your blender
Optional:🥑 Avocado is amazing in this too, and a must if you use kale instead of spinach. So creamy.
Optional: 🥬1 heaping tsp of a potent dried green such as wheatgrass (what we used) or moringa or marine greens – or any of: spirulina, kelp, chlorella
TOPPINGS – This is the PROTEIN
Add a handful of raw nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews) and seeds (chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, etc.) on top of the smoothie for added plant protein, minerals, vitamins, fibre and to really feel FUELLED, satisfied and optimally full for hours.
DIRECTIONS
Put all of the smoothie ingredients, but not the topping ingredients, into a blender and blend that all up until smooth. Pour it into a mason jar or two, leaving about 1 inch from the top empty. Toss the raw almonds, any additional nuts, 2 tsp of chia seeds and any additional seeds on the top. That way you are forced to eat your smoothie with a spoon and chew everything instead of guzzling it….a process that activates key enzymes in your mouth (in saliva) that help break things down…and therefore you absorb more of those amazing nutrients into your body in your digestive tract — which you could have missed if you had simply guzzled your smoothie. Stays fresh in the fridge for about 24 – 30 hours.
